the 8th International Symposium on Mathematics Education and Innovation
October 30, 2025 – October 31, 20259 - 10 October 2024
Leveraging Technology for Enhanced Learning: Emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, gamification, and educational apps offer exciting opportunities to enhance the teaching and learning of mathematics. By incorporating these tools into instructional practices, educators can create immersive and interactive learning experiences that cater to diverse learning styles. This symposium provides a platform to explore how technology can be leveraged to engage students, deepen understanding, and foster a love for mathematics.
Mathematics education should not only focus on rote memorization but also emphasize the application of mathematical concepts in real-world contexts. Emerging technologies provide innovative ways to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Through case studies, demonstrations, and hands-on workshops, this symposium aims to showcase how technology can be used to contextualize mathematical concepts and promote problem-based learning.
Effective integration of technology into mathematics instruction requires educators to possess digital literacy and pedagogical expertise. However, many teachers lack the necessary training and support to effectively utilize technology in the classroom. This symposium seeks to address this gap by providing professional development opportunities for educators. Workshops, seminars, and networking sessions will equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively integrate emerging technologies into their teaching practice.
Access to quality mathematics education is not equitable across all communities. Emerging technologies have the potential to democratize access to learning resources and promote inclusivity in mathematics education. By exploring strategies for leveraging technology to reach underserved populations, this symposium aims to promote equity and inclusion in mathematics education. Through collaborative discussions and best practice sharing, participants will identify ways to ensure that all students have the opportunity to succeed in mathematics.
The "Empowering Future Generation through Emerging Technology Trends in Mathematics Education Symposium" is a unique opportunity to explore the transformative potential of technology in mathematics education. By bringing together experts, practitioners, and stakeholders, we can collectively envision and shape the future of mathematics education for generations to come. Join us as we embark on this journey to empower learners with the knowledge and skill they need to thrive in the 21st century.

the 7th International Symposium on Mathematics Education and Innovation
December 17, 2023 – December 18, 20235-6 October 2022
Numeracy has become the current buzzword in the world of Indonesian mathematics education since the Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemdikbudristek-RI) launched the Minimum Competency Assessment (Asesmen Kompetensi Minimum - AKM) program. Together with literacy, numeracy is the minimum competency measured in the AKM. This policy is expected to foster a learning culture that places students as the main focus, as well as the shift of the paradigm from simply teaching the content, to developing the students’ competence in a constructive and adaptive manner.
Currently, there are still many mathematics teachers who are not familiar with numeracy, which is followed by various misconceptions and misinformation. One of the efforts of the SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics or commonly called SEAQiM in supporting teacher professionalism is through the International Symposium on Mathematics Education and Innovation (ISMEI). This symposium is initiated by SEAQiM and is held every two years. This activity is a space for disseminating works and exchanging ideas about innovations in mathematics education for teachers, education staff, policy makers, and related stakeholders.
In 2022, ISMEI will be held for the seventh time with the theme being Transforming Education by Reimaging Numeracy Learning. Through this theme, ISMEI invites education practitioners to transform education by reviewing mathematics learning practices to develop numeracy and discussing its potential in the future.
